Becoming a Foster Parent - Job Description

Live-in foster parents for up to five foster children at Noah's Ark Children's Village. This is a 24/7 position in a facility where foster children live as part of the family with the foster parents. In our model, one of the parents stays home with the children while the other parent can work to provide extra money for non-covered family expenses or go to school. All couples must be married and over 21 years old. We are looking for Christian couples who attend church on a weekly basis. Any foster children placed in your home will go to church or other activities as part of your family. This is an opportunity to sacrifice and serve children who have been removed from their biological homes. We are an early intervention model so 95% or more of our children are from a few months to 12 years old. We often have sibling groups of three or four children from one family. This is a demanding position for a couple or family with a heart to serve children where you can make a huge difference in a child's life.

Benefits

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart"

     ~ Helen Keller

Noah's Ark Children's Village provides a nice large relatively new (1-7 years old) home and all furnishings except for master bedroom to foster family free of charge. Our homes are centered around a town green on an 89 acre oasis in the city of Jeffersonville. The Ark has a tranquil rural atmosphere with much of the property in wetlands, corn & soybeans. We also provide all utilities, a fifteen passenger van for transportation anytime a foster child is with you, gas and maintenance for the van and all food for the family. We also provide a $2200 respite account to help with babysitting or vacation expenses. We do not pay a weekly salary. other than the respite account all payment is in-kind. We are relatively conveniently located to Seminary. We have an on-site grocery that provides most of each family's needs. Might be an ideal position for a married seminary student to provide a great place to live and serve while preparing for the ministry.

Noah's Ark provides on-site case manager for each family. We provide much of the transportation to appointments for the children and on-site visitation for most biological parents.

Opportunity and Requirements

We have one immediate opening for a couple or family. However, you will be required to complete 20 hours of foster parent training at our expense and undergo extensive background checks. You can have up to three biological children in your family to be considered for this position. Requires a minimum two year commitment.
